Potomac Heritage Trail Bike Ride

EPIC BIKE RIDE!
Join us for a 354.5 mile bike-packing trip on the
Potomac National Scenic Trail!
COST: $700 + air fare
EPIC BIKE RIDE : The Potomac National Scenic Trail extends from Washington's Mt. Vernon Estate in Alexandria Virgina, then joins the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Tow Path to Cumberland Maryland. It then continues on to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The trail is a mix of gravel, compressed rock and some paved segments. There will be significant elevation gains. We will be camping along the way and spending 10 days on the trail for an average of about 35 miles of biking each day. There will be a sag wagon that will carry all camping and personal gear from each camping site.
We will leave from O'Hare Airport on June 11th and arrive at Reagan Washington National Airport in Virginia. We will spend one night in Washington DC and then start on the Trail on June 11th. We will arrive in Pittsburgh on June 21st and depart Pittsburgh International Airport for O'Hare on June 24th.
Each participant will need to provide the following equipment:
- Bike
- ANSI Approved Helmet
- Personal First Aid Kit with moleskin
- Bike Repair Kit including spare inner tube, tire repair kit, adjustment tools and COS inflator.
- Two Water Bottles on Bike
- Personal Camping Gear
Three Fires Council, Fox River Adventure Base will provide the following equipment:
- Tents
- Cooking Gear
- Cooking Stoves and Fuel
- Crew First Aid Kit
- Radios for Communication with Sag Wagon
- Bike Repair Stand and Tool Sets
- Other Safety Gear
Included in the fee is also all food, gas and supplies for Sag-Wagon, and any permits for camping and day uses.
