When MBU began 29 years ago - less than 100 Scouts attended. Today, over 1,500 Scouts from all over the United States attend this event, making our MBU one of the largest in the Nation. Whether this is your first visit to MBU or you are a veteran, please read the instructions carefully as some of our registration procedures have changed.
It takes an army of dedicated Volunteers to make MBU a success. For 29 years, hundreds of selfless moms, dads, business and community leaders have given back to Scouting by serving as Merit Badge Instructors, Assistant Instructors & Staff. Thank YOU for being a part of our team and for helping our Eagles to soar!
We've been at this for over 20 years now, and there's not much we haven't tackled along the way. One of the best places to start is our Facebook page. That's where you'll find a ton of general information about MBU. Like Us and you'll be instantly connected to the latest announcements and alerts and latest news about MBU.

CHECK OUT OUR
History
In 1997, Scoutmaster Keith Miller and some fellow Scouters
hosted the 1st Merit Badge University for Three Fires Council.
The turnout was light - only about 100 Scouts. They brought
sack lunches and ate in the hallway. Today, nearly 2,000
Scouts and more than 300 Volunteers attend and run MBU.
Scouts come from 11 States and 24 Councils to take advantage
of this annual event. We teach 90+ merit badges, deliver
hundreds of classes and serve thousands of meals on the big day.
